Answer: Real. Life. Quilting.
Yeah, I’m doing it. I’m throwing my hat in the ring and joining the tons of quilters already out in the pattern designing and blogging sphere. But of course the question I feel I need to answer, is Why?
Y’all, I am a real quilter. As in capital R, real. I understand the battles of modern life, being pulled in a million directions and still wanting to have something for yourself. I am here to share my quilts, provide some tips, and get candid about various topics that relate to quilting and pursuing the craft. My posts will be blunt, honest, open, transparent, and more. I call things as I see them and rarely apologize for doing so.(I say rarely, because in all fairness, tact and kindness do sometimes require me to back up a step. Hey, I’m human.)
I mean hell, my first pattern launch even got pushed back 5 months because life things got in the way and I was overwhelmed.
Life things:
That said, I am throwing the image of the little old granny as who a quilter is out the window and trying to create a more relatable and familiar one that is encouraging to those of you looking to start quilting or who have recently picked it up. If I can persuade just one other person to give quilting a try, that is a huge WIN in my book.
Are cost/space/time issues that you face in trying to pursue quilting? Guess what?! Me too! I have faced and conquered all of these. Ok, and not conquered at times too. And yes, losing your sew-jo is a real problem that happens and I completely understand and feel you on that.
And I want to be clear-self-taught is perfectly acceptable! I am mostly self-taught and have experienced prejudiced attitudes from very traditional/classically-trained quilters that were disheartening and discouraging. Nope. Not having that shit. That is the kind of crap that keeps people from even trying. Not ok. All skill levels, interest levels, and training levels are welcome here.

So welcome. Join in, meet some quilters, give some feedback, and relate!
