That time is drawing near….gifting season! As the Holidays are approaching, I wanted to share my Quilty Gift Guide with great gift ideas for quilters that won’t just sit in their stash. We have all gotten at least one or 2 quilty gifts from well-meaning friends and family that don’t quite fit our tastes or needs….you know what I mean. Feel free to pass this on, share with your loved ones who are shopping for you, use it to shop for your quilty friends, etc. Some of these items are even on my Christmas list.
I will also recommend always talking to the quilter or someone very close to them before purchasing most of the tools and notions….best to make sure they don’t already have it.

Tools and Notions
- Wool Pressing Mats – These are the best! I even use mine on top of my ironing board to save time because the heat presses both sides at once.
- Steamfast Mini Iron – This has been on my list in the past. The best of the portable irons from what I have heard.
- Electric Quilt Products – I looove my EQ8 software for designing quilts and seeing how fabric fits into designs. I also really want to get my hands on a copy of their Encyclopedia of Blocks.
- Quilt Planners – I like the ones that don’t have an assigned calendar and can fit a ton of projects. Click the link to see my favorite that I currently use. It’s from Eva B. Makery.
- Swatch Books- Most major lines of solid quilting fabrics have them and they are extremely useful….just double check that your quilter doesn’t already have them.
- Good Quality Work Lights – I personally use Ott Lite, but there are other well known lines too.
Best Sites for Overall Gift Selections
If you aren’t sure and just want to look at an overall selection of gifts for quilters, the following websites have a great selection in multiple categories.
- Fat Quarter Shop – Obviously one of my go-tos. They are also pretty prompt on shipping and have a larger gift and notions section.
- Missouri Star Quilt Co. – A staple in the quilting world.
- Etsy – A great source for unique and semi-unique items. Just be mindful of allowing more time for shipping as these are often very small businesses. At the same time, there is a lot of “junk” on there, so please be careful. I have had good experiences, and struggles.
- Patchwork Threads – This is an independent business that I first discovered on a trip to Quilt Con a few years ago. I think they have a great selection of more modern and amusing quilty items.
