When my only sister found out that she was having a little girl after 3 sons, we all started seeing flowers and pink and girly things, oh my. So of course when it came to my niece’s baby quilt, I knew I had to make it uniquely feminine…something that would befit the only girl in a house of boys.
I started with the fabric. I love the airy coziness that a soft white gives quilts. And I had drooled over all of the watercolor florals available through the Hawthorne Supply Co. (@hawthornesupplyco) digitally printed fabric program.
So I gave my sister a choice of a handful of collections and she chose the light and delicate Splendor by Crystal W Design. Crystal (@crystal.w.design) has worked with Hawthorne for a while and has a lot of designs on Spoonflower.
The pattern is the Better Together Pattern from Quilter’s Candy (@quilters_candy). I am an HST devotee and I loved how fat-quarter friendly it was while creating the simple movement I wanted.
Thanks to Katie at Third Coast Quilting (@thirdcoastquilting) for the long arm quilting. She did a beautiful job with this Rosemary design. It added just the right texture to keep the quilt light and airy.
And of course I finished it off with my favorite big stitch binding!
Unfortunately, I finished it when she was nearly 18 months old, but I still finished it. I snapped these photos quickly so it could be gifted to my favorite little girl without any further delay!
